Darkness Dawns - Dianne Duvall Darkness Dawns—Book one of the Immortal Guardians by Dianne Duval

I was impressed by this book. Sad to say I didn’t have very high expectations; maybe I have been let down too much lately when it comes to new books, or mayhap I’m just becoming jaded in my years, but I was giving less than even odds that this book would be any good. I am happy to say that I was pleasantly surprised.
This book managed to make be both care and curious about the characters within, while putting together a pretty good main plot and weaving in a highly intriguing sub-plot. I wasn’t crazy about all the characters, and the female lead was a tad-bit Mary-Sue, but even then I found it to be an entertaining book and a world I would like to re-visit. I want to know more, and that I believe is a complement to any author. I will be looking out for the next book in this series and looking forward to new installments as they arise. Ms. Duvall is a new voice to keep an eye on.
I give this book four stars.
